The Law in Uganda
Though prostitution is still illegal in Uganda, there are all the signs to show that it is taking place in a full swing and this could be substantiated by such posters some of which include even phone numbers and physical addresses of where exactly to go and find the `lovers`.
Maybe this is the difference between Tanzania and Uganda because in the former country, the `business` is conducted secretly without such overt acts of advertising.
Under the Tanzania Penal Code, not only prostitution is illegal but even benefiting from the proceeds of the business or to procure or assist someone to engage in prostitution are also against the law.
So even the act of street children assisting the prostitutes to put the posters, expecting something in return, is criminal.

However, it is quite obvious that prostitution is taking place and in Dar es Salaam, for instance, Ohio Street at the city centre and areas near Leaders Club in Kinondoni are very famous for prostitution whereby prostitutes of almost all races line up every evening for customers.
Similarly, in Kampala prostitutes could also be found lining up at night in some streets most especially along the Nile Avenue and Shimoni Lane at the heart of the city which are areas largely resided by mainly foreign dignitaries and nationals.
Some of the prostitutes are alleged to be university students.
