My friend's house is not too far from the Aguada Beach Resort, built on a 16th century Portuguese fort. There are a lot of support workers living nearby, and one morning out for a walk I noticed Esmeralda. I noticed her first because of what she was doing. It's common to see people performing puja all over India in the mornings. It's a worship or ablution to a particular deity and takes many different forms. Esmeralda was performing puja to a Christ figure on the cross! I was fascinated. The next day I walked by at the same time, and there she was again. She looked to be in her mid to late 20's, thin and elegant, with maybe a nice set of B's, though it was hard to tell in the flowing sari. She saw me watching, and when she was done, nodded and smiled. I smiled back, and told her I'd never seen puja performed to a christian icon. She laughed, and said why not? Only in India.

We got to talking, and I knew from her relaxed manner that she knew what I wanted, and was cool with it. Esmeralda became my gf while I was there, and for no money. Sure I took her out to dinner and bought her gifts, but she did not want cash. She worked as a maid and had her own separate little bungalow off a little bit from her employer's house. We were discrete, but the Austrian family she worked for was very cool about her having company. She said more than once how such an arrangement would be practically impossible for a single woman living anywhere else in India.

Anyway, those are my most recent experiences there. I thought it might be interesting to those of you who go to India, and are turned off by easier to find scene.
