Singapore may raise the minimum age for prostitutes from 16 to 18 to bring its laws in line with international standards, a newspaper report said Tuesday, Oct 4. A government study into the penal code's provisions on sexual offences is expected to be completed by the end of the year, the Straits Times newspaper reported. Local authorities, while declining to provide specific reasons behind the study, said it was part of a 'holistic review' of Singapore's laws on sexual offences and may include criminalizing sex with minors overseas.

'We constantly review our laws to keep abreast of changing times and norms,' the Straits Times quoted a Ministry of Home Affairs spokesman as saying. Under current laws, having sex with girls under 16 is considered statutory rape, punishable by up to five years in jail and a fine of S$10,000 (US$5900)....

Singapore a squeaky clean city where you can be fined for not flushing the toilet, but where prostitution is legal and quite well regulated.

There are some five or six red light areas in Singapore which are designated as such and where you will find around 350 to 450 brothels. If your not careful you could inadvertently wander into one in a shopping mall. Soliciting is illegal and therefore even in the designated red light areas there are no street walkers.

Quite a few of the Singapore prostitutes are imported from other Asian countries, such as Thailand, Korea and Vietnam. They have to undergo regular health checks and carry a yellow health card.

My personal favourite was the Orchard Towers, a building known locally as ""four floors of Whores"", situated in Orchard Road close to the Royal Thai Embassy and the end of Tanglin Road. The building comprises of four floors of disco's and clubs each filled with dozens of women. The cost is a couple of hundred Singapore Dollars for a short time and double that for all night. Filled with hundreds of really beautiful women I was spoilt for choice.

One club I ended up in was Top Ten which charged an admission fee, this served two purposes, one once inside I didn't feel under pressure to do anything and secondly, it kept the undesirables away. I don't know if it was my imagination or expectation, but all the women were the most beautiful I had ever seen. They were not only beautiful but they were friendly and fun loving and I sat around for an hour drinking and chatting, trying to decide which one I fancied spending the night with.

Finaly I approached a young Chinese girl who looked like a movie star, and asked her if she would spend the night with me. We agreed a price of S$350 and went to my hotel. Her name was Mai Lin, her English was excellent, I find this makes for a much more enjoyable experience, her body was as beautiful as her looks and we started a night to remember. .......To be continued!!!!
